NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) – If a plane ever crashes in Nacogdoches County, emergency officials will be prepared.
City and county emergency officials simulated an airplane crash, complete with students acting as victims. They wore stickers on their chests telling emergency workers what was wrong with them.
All area emergency responders participated in the exercise, including the city and volunteer fire departments, both hospitals, the sheriff's office and the police department.
"We want to make sure that we're prepared for any type of disaster and so we train for those and we certainly want to make sure that we're ready if we do have one," said Nacogdoches County Judge Joe English.
The drill crash victims were transported taken to both hospitals so they could enact their emergency response system and triage the victims.
