SFA soccer star Megan Cash cashes in with academics

FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin's Megan Cash was named Wednesday to the Southland Conference Soccer First-Team Academic All-Conference squad, announced by league officials. The senior forward is the lone Ladyjack representative.

Cash led SFA in goals this season with a career-high eight scoring strikes and finished second on the squad with 19 points. The communication studies major has a 3.91 cumulative GPA.

The academic all-conference honor is the second in as many seasons for Cash. Earlier this season, she was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team. Last year, Cash was a second-team honoree on the Southland academic list.

Cash finished her career ranked seventh in SFA history in both goals (15) and points (36), despite playing only three seasons after transferring from Tulsa. She was a three-team all-conference selection, including a first-team honor in 2009.

The Ladyjacks went 10-8-2 this season and finished third in the Southland with a 6-2-1 record against league opponents.
