NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TEXAS (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating an apparent homicide after the body of a white female was discovered in a wooded area off of County Road 950 near the Rusk County line earlier this morning.

The victim has been identified as Stephanie Fowler Presley, of Nacogdoches, who was reported missing Thursday afternoon by family members after she did not attend work and was not at her home.

Sheriff Thomas Kerss says the department has issued a murder warrant for her estranged husband, John Presley. He was last known to have been driving a blue or green Lincoln with New Mexico license plates and is considered armed and dangerous.

The cause of death has not been determined, but the victim appeared to have been shot at least once.

Justice of the Peace Kerry Don Williamson has ordered an autopsy that is scheduled to be conducted tomorrow.

Kerss asks that anyone who sees John Presley to call their local law enforcement.

Anyone with information on him should call the sheriff's office at 936-560-7777.
