LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Only one week until Christmas, and if you don't have all your shopping done, you're not alone. One Lufkin store owner, said the weekend before Christmas is one of the busiest.
The owner of The Very Thing!, Nancy Winston said they've already seen a lot of traffic and expect it will only increase as Christmas day gets closer.
She said her store fills up on the weekends and afternoons, particularly with men who are trying to get that special someone a Christmas present.
"Especially starting yesterday it was probably about 50 percent men yesterday and with their kids so they're definitely wanting to come in and get that last minute thing for their wives," said Winston.
She said one tip for the last-minute shoppers is to use your lunch break to buy a quick gift.
Winston and other East Texas merchants are extending their hours. Many downtown Nacogdoches merchants will be open Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
