LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police say a man was killed Saturday morning after being hit by a train on Southwood Drive.
According to the report, the train operator spotted a man lying on the tracks and sounded the train horn for him to move. The man, later identified as Guadalupe Alonzo Estrada, 19, of Diboll, would not move as the operator unsuccessfully attempted to stop the nearly mile-long train.
Estrada was pronounced dead at the scene, about a quarter mile south of Gobblers Knob Road, just after 5 a.m.
