Angelina sheriff releases homicide victim's name

HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) - Angelina County Sheriff's deputies are investigating an apparent altercation which left a man dead outside his mother's home on county road 213 Monday afternoon.

According to Sheriff Kent Henson, Gary Lynn DeFratus, 47, had an altercation with someone else at his home before he apparently went to his mother's house, which is located on the same property, and died outside her home.

Henson said his mother found the body in her carport at around 2:30 p.m. Monday.

"We're still trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together to see what we got right now," Henson said. "The crime scene is going to be at his house since that's where the altercation took place."

Henson said it did not appear the man's home had been burglarized.

Lt. Bryan Holley said it appears the man died from multiple stab wounds.
