LUFKIN, TX (KTRE)- Police are trying to track down the man responsible for stealing an entire cash register at Dairy Queen on Atkinson Road, in Lufkin.
There were five employees on duty Wednesday night, and yet the only witness who saw the man take the cash register was the store manager's 11-year-old cousin, who watched it all unfold.
At roughly 6:30 pm, the suspect described as a white male in his twenties wearing a black jacket and ripped jeans, came into Dairy Queen and took the cash register, and then ran out the door. The store manager said they had just changed shifts and there was not more than 100 dollars in the register.
"Somebody walked in and he went in the restroom so I didn't think anything, and then he just came out, went around back, like that way, where the back door and stuff is and came back in here and just like walked like right there and just ran out the door," said 11-year-old Maiya Tapscott.
"I heard them say something about robbed and I ran up here. I saw the truck like on the road. They were pointing to which one it was and that was it," said the store manager Desiree Cockrell.
Employees say as far as they know, the man didn't have a weapon on him. Police are still searching for a suspect.
Employees did see the man get into his getaway vehicle and drive off in a burgundy F-10 pick-up truck. Anyone with information should contact Lufkin Police or Crimestoppers at 639-tips.
