Nacogdoches woman critical after stabbing, boyfriend arrested

NACOGDOCHES CO (KTRE) - A domestic dispute turned violent shortly after midnight, leaving a Nacogdoches female victim hospitalized in critical condition with stabs and cuts to her neck, chest and abdomen.

According to the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's office, deputies responded to a domestic dispute off County Road 806, just west of Nacogdoches and arrived to discovered a female victim had been stabbed numerous times, allegedly by her boyfriend.

Investigators said citizens tried to stop the attack by striking 29 year old Edmund Griffin several times with a baseball bat.  Griffin was still at the scene when officers arrived.  He was arrested and found to be in possession of a controlled substance.  Griffin was transported to Memorial Hospital and admitted due to the injuries he had sustained.  He remains under constant guard by deputies, charged with aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance.  No bond has been set.

The female victim underwent surgery Thursday and remains in critical condition.
