Primary election deadline draws near with a few contested races

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - With the primary election registration deadline just hours away, a few local races will be contested in Angelina and Nacogdoches Counties.

For the Angelina County Precinct 4 Commissioner's Court seat, Bill Brown and Scott Cooper will face off in the Republican primary for the seat which will be vacated by Lynn George. Lenn Runnels, Delbert Jones, Grady Courtney and Rodney Lott will vie for the Democratic nomination.

Incumbent Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3 Morris Morehead will be challenged by Dan Townsend for the Democratic nomination in Angelina County.

Incumbent Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 Claude Marshall will be challenged by Dwayne Havard for the Democratic nomination in Angelina County.

In Nacogdoches County, B.W. Stripling, Elton Milstead, Chris Borel, Harold E. Rapsilver and Dempsey Compton have filed to run for the Precinct 4 Commissioner's Court seat in the Republican primary. Dona Bass has filed to run against the incumbent Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, David Perkins.

The Precinct 2 County Commissioner, Reggie Cotton, will be challenged by Norman Henderson.
