Whitney Grunder joined the East Texas News team as a video journalist in Aug. 2009. Although she grew up as a Californian, Whitney was originally born in New Braunfels. She is excited to re-connect to her roots and experience all that East Texas has to offer.
Whitney graduated with honors from California State University Northridge, Mike Curb College of Arts Media & Communication with her degree in Broadcast Journalism.
While going to school in Southern California, Whitney had the opportunity to intern for KTTV's morning show, Good Day LA, in Los Angeles, where she learned the ins and outs of the business. Her experiences as an intern confirmed that reporting was what she was destined to do. From that point, she became dedicated to making her dream happen.
In college, Whitney got very involved within the journalism department. She anchored, reported, and produced for Valley View News, the school's television station. She was also a business reporter for KCSN 88.5 FM, the University's radio station.
Before coming to East Texas, Whitney was active in the performance world. She was a dance instructor for children and taught at several dance studios throughout the Los Angeles area. Whitney also danced for a semi-professional basketball team. While going to school, she had the opportunity to do some freelance reporting with Dance Channel TV where she combined her love for the arts with her passion for journalism.
When not reporting, she enjoys dancing, traveling, training and running marathons, reading, karaoke, watching movies, and spending time with loved ones.
