LUFKIN, TX (KTRE)- Don't forget about your pets and livestock during frigid weather.
Ranchers and farmers say this is especially important because the temperatures are expected to stay below freezing for at least two days.
"We need to make sure we have places to get out of the wind, you know, give them access to the barn and have plenty of good hay, and be sure and break the ice off that feed troth. The water's going to freeze and you need to break that ice and make sure that, they can have some water," said Agriculture County Extension Agent Cary Sims.
For smaller animals, owners should provide insulated bedding out of the wind. For plants, cover them up and put out plenty of water.
