Man killed in Nacogdoches Co. car wreck

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE)- A man was killed in a two-car accident Saturday shortly before noon. Erik Alsaro, 25, of Nacogdoches died at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital about an hour after the crash. He was not wearing his seat belt.

Carlos Vargas, 17, of Nacogdoches was driving a 2005 Kia Spectra east on County Road 555 when he failed to yield right of way. A Chevrolet truck towing a gooseneck trailer bed was traveling southbound on FM 2259 and slammed into Vargas' car carrying two passengers, one of them being Alsaro.

Vargas and the other passenger Roberto Benitez, 17, of Nacogdoches are both in stable condition at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.

Vargas and Benitez were both wearing their seat belts.
