Big turnout at The Bridal Fair 2010

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – More than 200 blushing brides on a mission to find the perfect wedding dress, cake, flowers and much more headed over to The Bridal Fair 2010 on Sunday.

Soon-to-be brides checked out floral arrangements, tasted cakes and admired wedding gowns. Dozens of local vendors specializing in everything from cake decorating to catering to party rentals filled the Pitzer Garrison Civic Center.

The event was sponsored by KTRE-TV, A-1 Party Rentals, Brookshire Brothers and Lufkin Jewelry on the Square.

A fashion show with over sixty of the latest bridal gowns, bridesmaids' dresses and grooms fashions was presented by Lesa's Bridal and Formal Wear of Lufkin. Prizes and gift certificates were awarded throughout the afternoon adding to the fun of the fair.

The event ended with a grand prize drawing for the registered brides. Lufkin Jewelry on the Square provided a three-quarter carat diamond pendant as the grand prize. Jessica McGuire of Lufkin was the winner and received her new diamond necklace at the fair.

    James Henderson's defense attorney, Stanley Sokolowski, started off the third day of court by questioning the state's witness, Investigator Bill Rulland. The cross examination lasted most of the morning and even a little into the afternoon.     More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.     Deputies with the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office made two felony drug arrests and seized marijuana, Prometh VC with codeine, hydrocodone, Alprazolam, and ecstasy after a traffic stop near the intersection of Robb and Jefferson streets late Tuesday night.
