Nacogdoches hospital says valve burst forces surgery reshuffling

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A water valve burst at Nacogdoches Medical Center forced the hospital to reschedule 10 surgeries Tuesday morning. Now, everything is back to normal, but it did create some problems Tuesday morning.

According to Associate Administrator Josiah De La Garza, the valve burst between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The hospital was still operational for emergency surgeries. Only outpatient and inpatient surgeries were affected, De La Garza said.

De La Garza said workers spent the morning replacing the busted valve in one of the operating room suites. The burst flooded the halls and caused the ceiling to leak. Hospital staff spent the morning sanitizing the area and getting the operating rooms back to its appropriate environment.
