POLLOK, TX (KTRE) - More than 200 cameras are set to be installed at the Lufkin State Supported Living Center.
Senate Bill 643 directs the state to place the cameras at all Texas facilities. The cameras will monitor common areas, but not bedrooms or bathrooms.
The Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities services says the cameras will be able to detect abuse, neglect, and exploitation of residents living in the facilities. The project will cost about 12 million dollars and is expected to be finished by August 2011.
