ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) –  Jury selection began Tuesday in the trial of an Angelina County woman accused of injuring a child.

Samantha Wideman, 25, is charged with injury to a child in connection with the death of Ian Landers, 2, of Hudson. Wideman was the girlfriend of the boy's father.

In September 2007, Ian died in a Houston hospital following a severe head injury. An autopsy ruled the death to be a homicide. The report stated there were injuries all over his body, including trauma to the brain, lower limbs and elbows.

The boy's parents, Tonya Landers and Scott Landers, were separated at the time. Family and friends of baby Ian plan to wear blue ribbons in hopes of giving him a voice and justice. The trial begins next week.
