LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Angelina County Commissioners considered applying for a federal grant that would enhance the county's adult drug court program.

The Angelina County Director of Adult Probation, Rodney Thompson, asked the commissioners to okay a proposed application for a federal grant.

The grant would fund enhancements to the county's adult drug court which aims to help people with drug convictions transition back into the community.

The grant would allow the program to hire more employees.

"Those people will be kind of the liaison more with the rest of the community to give them more services because they are in need of more services," said Thompson.

The commissioners did approve the application for the grant. Now they wait to find out if they will be awarded the funding.
