Three people killed in Tuesday night accident near Lufkin

ANGELINA CO. (KTRE) – Three people were killed in what investigators are describing as a head-on collision Tuesday night on Moffett Road, about five miles north of Lufkin.  The accident occurred shortly after 9. 

According to a DPS report, the driver of a Ford Focus crossed the center lane, slamming into a Kia Spectra.

The driver of the Ford, 20-year old Jerry Miller, later died at Memorial Health System in Lufkin. The driver of the Kia, 72-year old Billy Simms and his wife, 68-year old Joyce Simms both died at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.  Senior DPS Trooper Greg Sanches said toxicology reports have been ordered.  All three were wearing seatbelts.
