Onalaska man killed in Polk County wreck

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE)- An Onalaska man was killed in a one vehicle crash in Polk County Wednesday afternoon.

According to DPS Trooper Ramey Bass, John Burton Edwards, 56, was traveling Northbound on State Highway 146, approximately eight miles South of Livingston, when his pick-up truck overcorrected to the left, and crossed over the Southbound lane. The vehicle went airborne and then struck a tree.

Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:05 pm by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Judge David Johnson.

Passenger Wanda Edwards, 29, is the victim's daughter in law. It's reported she was in stable condition after the collision, with minor injuries. She was taken to Livingston Memorial Hospital.

Both were wearing seatbelts and next of kin have been notified.

Edwards was a substitute teacher for Onalaska ISD.
