SACUL, TX (KTRE) - Within the first hour more than 300 people showed up at a biomass construction job fair in Nacogdoches.
Fagen Incorporated is the construction manager for the Sacul plant. Its representatives, along with the Nacogdoches Workforce Center conducted hundreds of interviews.
The $400 million facility will extend throughout the next 32 months. At any one time, several hundred employees with varying construction talents will be needed.
"I'm a full fledged carpenter, 30-year carpenter," Terrence Coleman said. "I've been unemployed for a while and I'm hoping it goes good, you know."
"This has to dovetail with the sub-contractors," NEDCO CEO Bill King said. "They work themselves through the construction process. Clearing the area and the concrete work."
Applicants who couldn't attend Thursday's job fair are encouraged to apply online at Fagen Incorporated's Web site. The biomass plant is scheduled to open the summer of 2012.
