TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Before the big bus can arrive, East Texas has to be ready.
John Crymes, co-owner of United Plumbing said he and his crew of plumbers are used to tight deadlines. They helped a team of East Texas builders seize a world building record, five years ago. An entire construction team built a house from the ground up in less than three hours: two hours, 52 minutes, and 29 seconds.
"Oh yeah, it can happen here," said Crymes.
Charles Schmidt said the extreme build would be hard to complete without concrete.
Schmidt does concrete work and said he's up for the challenge. He approached earlier this week by Gary Bayless with Bayless Custom Homes, Inc., the builder selected to head up the project.
He said his wife and daughter watch the show and cry every weekend. "They're probably more excited than anybody."
Ken Elzen, area manager of All Seasons Window and Door said all he's waiting for is specifics--how many windows, how many doors, what style, and where should he take them.
All those pieces should help complete the "extreme makeover" puzzle, including volunteers.
Wednesday morning, Bayless Custom Homes, Inc. asked KLTV to remove its link to the company website because it was overwhelmed with eager East Texans.
Joe Runnels, co-owner of the company, said a separate site just for the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project is currently under construction.
