LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Cancer touches all of us in one way shape or form. On Saturday night the Angelina College basketball teams will be hosting Blinn. The game is being called coaches vs. cancer. This is to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. The Angelina Roadrunner Association is going to give $20 for every three point basket made in both men and women's games. The women will tip off at 5:30pm and the men will take the hardwood at 7pm.
"We are calling it super Saturday because we are going to dedicate god willing with the weather the two fields in the afternoon. Because we changed the basketball games to night games that were supposed to be played in the afternoon, so it's going to be a boom boom boom deal and were hoping that people will come from the baseball and softball field and come and watch some basketball, Said Angelina College Athletic Director Guy Davis."
The softball team will wear pink shirts to support cancer awareness the first pitch for the game is scheduled for 1pm and the baseball team will start at 2pm. Opening ceremonies are fifteen minutes before the first game on each field. Both teams will play doubleheaders; this is the inaugural season on both fields.
