NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Cody Fredenburg has been hired to coach the Lumberjack running backs SFA head coach J.C. Harper announced Friday afternoon. Second-year assistant coach Jake Willingham will take over coaching the inside receivers for the 2010 season.
"I am very pleased to announce the hiring of Cody," said Harper. "He understands our offense, and brings a wealth of knowledge that will be beneficial to our program. He is also familiar with recruiting in the state of Texas, which will also be an asset to our program."
Fredenburg comes to Nacogdoches, from Hattiesburg, Miss., where he was coaching the Golden Eagles' tight ends. During the spring of 2008, Fredenburg also worked with USM wide receivers. While in Hattiesburg, he was assigned the responsibility of recruiting Texas and Kansas junior colleges.
Prior to his stop at Southern Miss, Fredenburg spent two seasons in Stilwater, Okla., as an offensive and defensive quality control coach at Oklahoma State. During that time he helped develop and implement the Cowboys' passing game, as well as working with the OSU secondary.
Fredenburg began his coaching career at Mary-Hardin Baylor, where he served as a graduate assistant coach. During the 2004 season, Fredenburg worked with the Crusaders' quarterbacks, and assisted with the strength and conditioning program during the offseason.
