LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – The Lufkin Panthers girls basketball team will be playing for a district title on Tuesday night.  It will be the team's first since 2005 the Lady Pack come in with a 19-14 record and have all been playing together since they were freshman.  With only two seniors on the team Mylle Lewis and Kassy Cox the chemistry will be strong again next season.

The pride of representing Panther nation is a true test for the cardiac kids who run and gun with the best teams in the state on a nightly basis.

"It's a great honor to bring honor to the school and also the lady pack basketball program in order to get back in the playoffs.  Tonight's the game that we have to do well in and hopefully win it and finish in first place", Said Lufkin girls basketball coach Winfred Simmons.

The lady pack will tip off about 7:15 Tuesday night in the district finale at College Park.  Lufkin already beat the Lady Cavaliers this season at Panther gym.  The Lady Cavs are nursing a one game lead but if Lufkin wins tonight the outright district title will go to them by virtue of head to head wins.  The high school basketball playoffs begin next week.
