2/12/10 Lufkin Police report

Assault, 700 Block St. Lo Street: At approximately 5:25 P.M. on Thursday, February 11, 2010, an adult female was assaulted by a known juvenile female.  According to the report, the suspect informed the victim by text message that she was coming to the victim's residence to confront her and, once the suspect arrived, the victim met the suspect outside the residence.  The report stated that the suspect attacked the victim by "striking and clawing" her, and that the victim suffered scratches and a laceration to her lip prior to witnesses separating the suspect and victim.  The report stated that a witness contacted Lufkin Police Department but the suspect fled the scene prior to Officers arriving.

Forgery/Counterfeiting, 800 Block North Timberland Drive: At approximately 1:45 P.M. on Thursday, February 11, 2010, a known female suspect attempted to pass counterfeit money at a grocery store located in the 800 block of North Timberland Drive.  According to the report, the suspect attempted to purchase money orders with torn and taped counterfeit bills but, when confronted regarding the money, stated to store employees and responding Lufkin Police Department Officers that she did not know that the bills were counterfeit and she did not know where from she received the bills.

Harassment, 400 Block Jack Street: Between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 11:45 A.M. on Thursday, February 11, 2010, a known male suspect sent harassing text messages to his ex-girlfriend.  According to the report, the suspect spoke by telephone and in person with a Lufkin Police Department Officer and stated that he understood that his messages were unwanted and that she was not to contact the victim again.  The report stated that the suspect was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning form for the victim's residence but shortly after his in-person meeting with the Officer the suspect sent additional text messages and email messages to the victim.

Credit Card Abuse, 1000 Block Morningside Drive: At approximately 8:15 A.M. on Thursday, February 11, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that she received a telephone call from an unidentified male suspect claiming to be a Consolidated Communications employee and claiming that the complainant's account was past due.  The reported stated that the complainant provided the caller her credit card number but soon after the call she realized that the call was a scam and contacted her credit card company only to learn that someone had already made unauthorized purchases in the amount $700.00.

Credit Card Abuse, 100 Block Regal Row: On Thursday, February 11, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, he received a telephone call at his business, located in the 100 block of Regal Row, from an unidentified suspect claiming to be a Consolidated Communications employee and claiming that the complainant's account was past due.  The reported stated that the complainant provided the caller his credit card number but quickly realized that the call was a scam and contacted his credit card company only to learn that someone was at that moment making an unauthorized purchase in the amount $35.00.

Fraud, 900 Block Rowe Avenue: On Thursday, February 11, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 4:30 P.M. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, she received a telephone call from an unidentified suspect claiming to be a Consolidated Communications employee and claiming that the complainant's account was past due.  The reported stated that the complainant knew her account was not past due and told the suspect that she would go in-person to the local office of Consolidated Communications.  The report stated that the suspect responded by stating to the victim that the office would be closed due to Valentine's Day and that the victim must immediately make payment over the telephone by credit card or her telephone service would be terminated.  According to the report, the complainant stated that even though the suspect knew her name, Consolidated Communications account number, social security number, and date of birth, she knew her account was not pass due and knew the telephone call was a scam so she did not provide the suspect her credit card number.

Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, 600 Block Grove Avenue: At approximately 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 11, 2010, near the intersection of Treadwell Avenue and Keltys Street, Lufkin Police Department Officers recovered a stolen black-in-color Honda vehicle, which had been stolen at approximately 1:00 A.M. that date from the 600 block of Gove Avenue.  According to the report, an anonymous caller directed officers to the location of the vehicle.  The report stated that when stolen the vehicle had been parked in the roadway with the vehicle's key in its ignition switch and the vehicle's doors unlocked, but when recovered the vehicle's doors were locked and the vehicle's keys were not located inside of the vehicle.  The report stated that the vehicle was returned to its owner following processing for evidence by a Lufkin Police Department Crime Scene Technician.
