Vans used to transport drunk drivers hit by drunk drivers

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - It's designed to keep drunk drivers off Nacogdoches roads, but this weekend, "Driving Jacks" was involved in not one, but two wrecks on the same night.

Both caused by drivers who were later arrested for DWI.

Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt.

The collisions occurred at separate parties.

One Driving Jacks van was backed into by an alleged intoxicated driver leaving a party.

Another van was rear-ended while waiting to pick up riders at another party.

An alleged intoxicated driver was at fault.

"If anything, it should be a realization that people need to really see that we're out here and regardless of things that happened, like we're gonna continue and we're going to be in operation this weekend and so forth and that this is what we try to prevent and we're not going to stop in what we do," Driving Jack Bry Broby said.

Driving Jacks is in its third year at SFA. So far, it's given more than 8,000 safe rides home.

The project is funded by community sponsors, including Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
