Grand jury indicts 2 for Nacogdoches store robberies

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches Grand Jury has indicted two men for their alleged robberies of three convenience stores.

Raymond Burns Jr., 20, and Montonious Handy, 32, both of Logansport, La., are accused of robbing the Logansport Food Mart, Woden Road Quick Stop and University Drive Chevron in late December.

During the arrest, Burns was charged with attempting to take a weapon from a detective. While in prison, Burns was also charged with stabbing a jailer with a ballpoint pen.

Handy is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery while Burns is charged with aggravated robbery (four counts), attempting to take weapon from peace officer, aggravated assault, attempted escape, assault against public servant (two counts) and tampering with a governmental record.
