NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE)- Four were killed in a major wreck off of Highway 7, in Nacogdoches County Saturday afternoon, according to DPS.
A Lincoln sedan traveling East of Nacogdoches, roughly two miles from the loop, drove into West-bound traffic, and struck a Chevrolet Malibu on the left side of the vehicle. The van ricocheted off of the Malibu to hit a Toyota Avion head on.
The driver of the Lincoln was Darrwin Cartwright, 19, of Center. He died on the scene. Passenger, Natayia Horton, 22, of Center was also pronounced dead. DPS said both were not wearing seatbelts. Next of kin have been notified.
The driver and passenger of the Toyota also died in the collision. They have been identified as Tyrone Phillip and Justin Slaughter. Both were from Center.
Driver of the Chevrolet, Joshua Mccollister, 20, of Joaquin, and passenger Lanieba Dodd, 18, of Center, were both treated and released from Nacogdoches Medical Center Hospital Saturday.
The four victims who perished were pronounced dead by Judge LeAnn Goemer at 2:36 pm Saturday.
Trooper Keith Jones of Nacogdoches Highway Patrol was on the scene. Jones says the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
