Nacogdoches, TX (KTRE) –Kinky Friedman was in Nacogdoches today visiting with East Texans over coffee at Java Jacks.

The Democratic Agriculture Commissioner candidate says if he gets in office, he plans on making a few changes.

He says he wants to create animal rescue facilities in every county and fight toll roads that interfere with the property of farmers & ranchers.

"I'm not going to give you a laundry list like every politician does of what I'm going to do.  I'm going to follow Bill Clinton's idea which he gave me in 2006, which is find a couple issues close to your heart.  I've given you two of them the project with Willie Nelson with farmers selling alternative fuels and make them available everywhere with the state pushing them, backing them.  Two, animal sanctuaries, no kill sanctuaries in every region of Texas," said Friedman

The former gubernatorial candidate says the campaign is going well so far.  If he wins the democratic primary, he says he thinks he has a good chance to defeat incumbent Todd Staples.
