NACOGDOCHES KTRE- Whitney Cormier is tenacious the senior guard is averaging 15 points per game. She leads Stephen F. Austin in scoring and surpassed 1,000 pointsin her career against Nicholls state February 3rd making her the 24th player in lady ack history to do so.
"I like coming out and playing hard every day I wasn't really worried about getting a thousand points it's a great honor but I wasn't worried about that, I have to do whatever I can do to help us win, Cormier said."
Coach Lee Ann Riley is very pleased with the fact that Cormier can create her shot and score in the clutch when it's needed.
"I have been very blessed for over three and half years to have a player take over a game you don't have to run sets for her because it's very rare that a female can create their own shot and she can she plays a guys game off the dribble in the air finishes around the basket extremely well it's just her natural talent, Riley said."
Basketball has always been Cormier's game never swaying always focused on hoops.
"I've always played basketball; first sport I fell in love with it. I was playing with my parents before I was old enough to play in leagues and stuff. Definitely started off real young and I have been playing ever since."
Ladyjacks host Central Arkansas Wednesday March 3rd in the final home game of the season at 7 o'clock Whitney Cormier is your jack of the week.
