NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE)-Thursday, the Nacogdoches ISD board of trustees approved the hiring of two special men.
The new head coach and district football coordinator, Scott Ford and the next athletic director, Farshid Niroumand, were chosen out of more than 100 applicants.
"This is my 14th year of coaching. I've been a head coach for eight years and I'm currently a Los Fresnos which is a 5A team in the Valley and I have a career record of 69 wins and 25 losses," said Ford.
The former Marshall high school star replaces Bill Harper, who ironically enough, was the defensive coordinator when Ford was at Marshall.
Ford is excited to be back, and is already looking ahead.
"First thing I need to do is meet with the kids and get them excited about having a new head coach and setting the vision for the future of winning championships and doing things. Ultimately, we have to hit the ground running and start working as hard as we can immediately," said Ford.
The new athletic director, Farshid Niroumand has been coaching soccer at Nacogdoches for 28 years. Niroumand took the associate athletic director position in the summer, and was a standout candidate from the start.
"Obviously they have seen something and they have some expectations and I hope to please them and live up to their expectations," said Niroumand.
Both men look forward to a future of success.
"We're both in it for the betterment of the kids and I think as long as that's the number one priority we're always gonna pull the same direction," said Ford.
"He comes across as a winner and successful and a wonderful human being," said Niroumand.
