LUFKIN KTRE- Steady and cool is Walt Harris the senior shooting guard is fully recovered from a torn pectoral muscle that he hurt last year as a junior. The senior from Killeen, Texas has been consistent this season averaging 11 point per game for the Lumberjacks. He has been one of the cogs in the wheel that has helped lead SFA to a 21-7 record.
"He's been our most consistent outside threat he's number one right now in the conference in free throw shooting and in the top five in three point shooting. When Walt is playing well we usually win the game because he gives us a very good offensive threat from the outside," SFA basketball coach Danny Kaspar said.
Harris realizes that the second season also known as the post-season is a chance to play well and beyond the final home game Saturday night against UTSA.
"I was just trying to tell the guys that it's not over yet even though we are in second place. We have a big chance of winning the tournament and going back to the big dance I mean we just have to continue to work hard and play as a team," senior guard Walt Harris said.
Harris a junior college transfer from McLennan is happy to contribute to a team that has won over forty games the past two seasons.
"It's been pretty fun you know my last year just trying to do as much as I can for the team and just try to go out with a bang. It's been fun I'm glad I had an opportunity to be a senior and be a leader for this squad."
