RUSK COUNTY, TX (Raycom News Network) - The Rusk County Sheriff's Office is investigating the homicide of an elderly East Texas man that took place Tuesday night.

The 9-1-1 call came in from a home on Rusk County Road 4267D in the Reklaw community at about 7:20pm Tuesday. There, authorities say, Champion EMS workers found 76-year-old Eugene Snitker with lacerations all over his body. Snitker was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital where he later died.

According to the sheriff's office, Snitker lived with his wife, a nurse, who found him and called 9-1-1 Tuesday night after coming home from work.

Rusk County's Mobile Crime Unit is on the scene. Investigators say Snitker's lacerations were not self-inflicted, and they do have leads on possible suspects in the case.
