SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KTRE) - A former Diboll Lumberjack basketball player is suing the college and coach he played for two years ago, according to a newspaper article.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Wednesday that Trumaine Johnson, 21, is accusing the University of Sand Diego and its campus security staff of racial discrimination and racial profiling.
Johnson, who is black, is also accusing head coach Bill Grier of unfairly suspending him twice and making false public statements about why he was suspended, the article stated.
Johnson left the university in late 2008 and plans to join conference rival St. Mary's next year, the article stated.
Johnson's lawsuit cites two instances of alleged racial discrimination by his coach and campus security.
Johnson played at Diboll in his sophomore and junior seasons.
