Nacogdoches- KTRE- With the weather warming up this week our Jack of the Week is a track athlete. Junior Camelia Sams from Longview has been named Southland Conference indoor field athlete of the year. She helped lead SFA to their second consecutive indoor title. Winning both the long and triple jumps, she attributes her success to staying focused and grounded.
"It's all a mind thing and you have to be on you can't slack off hard work pays off in the end its been paying off for me I work every day it's starting to show that I have been working hard," Sams said.
Sams is practicing for the opening outdoor meet next Thursday at Angelo State University and has one goal that can still be hurdled.
"My goal is to make it to the regional outdoor not just winning conference. To make it to regional once you make it to regionals then you know it's on."
Sams and the SFA track team thrive on the fact at keeping schools in their rearview mirror.
"Everybody is on our back watching out to get SFA being that we are the defending champs outdoor and indoor so we just have to bring our a game to the track meets."
Camelia Sams is your Jack of the Week.
