LUFKIN, TX (KTRE)- At E.L. Brown's barber shop, the talk of the day is Census.

"If they don't fill it out, they won't get that money," said E.L. Brown.

Down the street at Garcia's Custom Paint and Body Shop, the census count could affect sales and the shop's employees for the next ten years.

"It's real important so that we all get counted so we can get some more business in here and my business can grow a little bit more," explains Adolfo Garcia.

By census standards, each person in Angelina County is worth 6,177 dollars. Part of that money will help create more jobs. In turn, boosting sales in small businesses. Sales Adolfo Garcia says he can't afford to lose.

"Each person that don't get counted it's a little over 6,100 that Lufkin would lost per person if they don't get counted," said Garia.

He's encouraging everyone to take ten minutes and participate in the census.

"It'll mean more revenue for Lufkin," Garcia said. "The small businesses will benefit from more money coming in from the government the more people that get counted. The more money Lufkin gets."

So he can continue to repair cars and Brown can keep cutting hair.

"They need to fill it out no matter what," said Brown.
