Texas Ranger arrests Trinity man for molesting child

TRINITY, TX (KTRE) - The Texas Rangers Office arrested a Trinity man Friday afternoon on a charge of molesting a five-year-old girl.

According to Sgt. Pete Maskunas, James Totten, 42, had been molesting the girl over an "extended period of time."

Totten has been formally charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. He is being held in the Trinity County Jail on a $755,000 bond, $5,000 of which comes from a previous fraud charge from March 4, 2010.

Maskunas said information about the case was brought to Trinity Police Saturday. They then contacted Maskunas as the case may have involved multiple jurisdictions.

Totten has been convicted of a felony at least once, in a case which was filed in 1999.
