TYLER COUNTY, TX (KTRE)- The Tyler County Sheriff's Department Saturday charged a 24–year-old woman for the murder of her seven-month-old son.
Suzanna Harwell, of Tyler County, was arrested Friday evening on U.S. 69 South at the entrance of Ivanhoe Estates, just south of Woodville. Deputies spotted and recognized Harwell's husband's vehicle, as it was passing by the entrance, and were able to make the arrest.
Prior to the arrest, Harwell's son was injured on Oct. 1, 2009. He died from his injury Oct. 5. The autopsy was ruled a homicide.
Harwell was arraigned this morning and is now formally charged with capital murder. She is being held in the Tyler County Jail on a $1 million bond.
The case is being investigated by Sgt. Prisher Ford with the Tyler County Sheriff's Department. According to Tyler County Sheriff David Hennigan, the actual investigation didn't take long, but the department was waiting on final autopsy results which took months, due to the nature of the case.
