LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Emergency responders spent part of Monday afternoon cleaning up a two-car wreck after a Lufkin man failed to yield the right-of-way on the intersection of Ellen Trout Drive and Timberland Drive, according to a Lufkin Police officer.
Officer John Davis said Billy Jones, 55, of Lufkin, had stopped his Ford F-250 at the stop sign on the exit road of Timberland Drive, but pulled out in front of a Honda, driven by Erin McClendon, 24, of Lufkin. McClendon's car T-boned Jones, who was pulling a trailer, forcing it to jackknife.
Neither Jones nor McClendon were injured. Both had their seatbelts fastened, Davis said.
The wreck occurred at about 1:30 p.m. and traffic was slow for about an hour as crews cleaned up the scene.
Jones was cited for failure to yield right-of-way, Davis said.
Both vehicles and a lawn mower, which fell off the trailer, received heavy damage.
