
CHOUDRANT, La – Junior Michael Smith fired an even par 72 Monday mornings in the opening round of the Louisiana Tech Bulldog Classic at Squire Creek Golf Course in Choudrant, La., but he was the only Lumberjack to record an opening-round score in the 70s. In the second round it was Smith who struggled, carding an 80, while the rest of the team improved from its opening round scores, but the 'Jacks finished the day 11th overall with a 152.
Smith led SFA with an eight-over 152, but he currently sits tied for 24th overall. After struggling in the opening round, sophomore Stetson McMillan cut nine strokes off his first-round score and finished the day with an 81-72 – 153. McMillan is currently tied for 26th overall. Junior Kyle Robbins is four strokes back of McMillan with a 157. He enters Tuesday's final round tied for 46th overall. Junior Ricky Wilkenfeld carded rounds of 83 – 76 to finish the day tied for 57th overall (159). Freshman Mitchell McElroy closed out the scoring for SFA by posting an 83-79 – 162 to enter the final round tied for 69th.
The Lumberjacks return to action Tuesday for the final round of action in the Louisiana Tech Bulldog Classic.
