Houston man dies in Polk Co. wreck

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Houston man died Tuesday night as he was traveling on U.S. 59, just south of Goodrich, when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction crossed the median and struck his door.

According to the DPS report, Joe Don Beasley, a retiree, died at 9:47 p.m. at a Livingston hospital.

Three passengers in Beasley's 2005 Saturn and the driver of the 1998 Ford Taurus, James Courtney Pierce, of Sugarland, who hit Beasley's car, were not injured.

Pierce's car hit Beasley's car in the driver's side door at 8:55 p.m., a tenth of a mile south of Goodrich.

Road conditions were described as wet and rainy.
