LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Lufkin Industries has recalled one-hundred oil field employees over the past three months.
A Lufkin Industries spokesperson says product demand comprised with the price of oil spurred the recall. The employees recalled were laid off last year. Lufkin Industries expects to recall more employees as the economy makes a comeback.
Lufkin Industries vice president, Paul Rerez says "It's not a real rapid increase, but we're cautiously optimistic that we're able to expand our business and as a part of that provide more jobs here in Lufkin,"
To give you an idea of how significant this recall is to the company and our local economy, Perez says the recalled employees make around 50-thouand-dollars a year. The company hopes this well be the trend of twenty-ten.
