LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – The Angelina County Commissioners signed a Mutual Aid agreement at their twice-monthly meeting.
They formally agreed that the Angelina County Sheriff's Department will help Nacogdoches Police whenever they ask for it.
These mutual aid agreements are very common. In fact, the sheriff's office has one with law enforcement agencies from Houston to Texarkana.
Sheriff Kent Henson explained just what these agreements mean.
"What that does, the mutual aid, said if we call for help, they send us home. And if they call for help - we send them help," said Sheriff Henson.
The actual, formal agreement covers any liability issues that may arise on the scene.
