SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA softball team will travel to Denton to face North Texas on Thursday. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at Lovelace Stadium.

This will mark the third meeting this season between the Roadrunners (9-18) and Mean Green, who are 10-9 entering a Wednesday night contest against UT Arlington. The two teams split a pair of games at the UTSA Invitational in February. Mariza Martinez hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to lift North Texas to a 5-4 victory in the first matchup, while an infield error off the bat of sophomore Laura Little helped UTSA slip past the Mean Green, 2-1, the following day.

The all-time series is tied at three games apiece and North Texas won the only previous contest in Denton, 9-4, on March 19, 2008.

UTSA took two of three games from McNeese State in a Southland Conference series at Roadrunner Field last weekend. Sophomore shortstop Caitlyn Ivy continues to lead the team in several offensive categories, including batting average (.378), hits (31), home runs (8), total bases (60), slugging percentage (.732) and on-base percentage (.458).  Sophomore Morgan Luksa has a team-leading 3.56 ERA in 17 appearances (41.1 innings).

North Texas has won three of its past four games, including a 1-0 decision against No. 15 Texas on March 16. Lisa Johnson leads the offense with a .385 batting average, five doubles, seven home runs and an .885 slugging percentage. Ashley Lall is the top pitcher with a 5-3 record, 2.41 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 52.1 frames.
