LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – They see it as neighbors helping neighbors. Brookshire brothers' corporate headquarters is located right across the street from Ellen Trout Zoo, and for six years they have spent a whole day helping out their animal neighbors.

Brookshire Brothers employees spend the entire day working on projects set aside by zoo administrators.

"One of the things is a bridge built over the crocodile exhibit so that's kinds of a treacherous one. In mud, you know, two feet deep. And we've done some wire caging in the McCaw exhibit," said Emily Watts, Director of Business Development & Director of Public Relations.

About 100 Brookshire Brothers employees showed up this morning to work on zoo projects.
