LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Wells woman was ticketed for not having her child in a safety seat after the child fell out of her moving car Friday afternoon. Lufkin motorists were able to avoid hitting the child.

According to Lufkin Police Officer Jim Porter, Brittany Dyson, 22, was driving northbound at 4:26 p.m. on Timberland Drive and turning left onto Denman Drive when her two-year-old child fell out of the car. Porter said Dyson claimed her child was secure in a booster seat, and must have gotten out of the seat and opened the door. But Porter said no indentations were on the seat, and the child was too young for a booster seat and should have been secured in a car seat.

Dyson was cited for failure to secure child in safety seat, failure to show a driver's license and no proof of insurance.

The child suffered road rash, facial injuries and a possible seizure and was transported to a Lufkin hospital.
