LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – March 30 is National Doctors' Day and in the City of Lufkin, physicians were honored with a proclamation from the Mayor.
Jack Gorden honored local doctors for their commitment to the health and well-being of area residents. He said about 200,000 people come to Lufkin for medical services each year.
"It is so appropriate that we come together today to recognize all the people that make it happen, regardless of our personal views of that national debate. Here locally, we are one community in support of our medical people," Gorden said.
The Interim CEO of Woodland Heights Medical Center was also at the ceremony and said doctors are the primary reason Lufkin is the medical center for East Texas.
