Texas man dies in single-vehicle collision in Jasper, Saturday

JASPER, TX (KTRE)- A Texas man was killed in a single-vehicle collision just inside Jasper city limits early Saturday morning.

According to the Jasper police department, a 1994 Honda Civic headed northbound on Highway 96, reared across two lanes of traffic and hit a bridge railing. The impact of the crash killed the driver, Arthur Goodrich, 21, of Goodrich, Texas and severely injured passengers Mark Acheson II, 21 and Thomas Hunt, 20, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The crash happened at around six am Saturday. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

Both passengers were taken to a Beaumont hospital and are reportedly in stable condition.

Next of kin have been notified.

Sgt. James Payne said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
