ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE)- Nearly a week away, is the big KTRE River Rivalry match-up.

The Angelina County girls hit the hardwood Wednesday evening.

The team is lead by head coach Jan West, who has more than 700 career wins on her resume. These young ladies are in good hands as they prepare for the game tip off, which is next Thursday at 6 p.m.

"We definitely better win that's all I have to say. If not, then I'll just be ashamed," said Amber Carver, representing Central.

"When we're on the court it [don't] matter if we're rivals or not. If we're on the same team, now we're on the same team. We gotta stick together," said Ceona Brooks, also for Central.

"I want to just carry it on, you know and just work as hard as the girls before us did and keep it going," said Huntington's Madisyn Williams.

The basketball game, to be held April 22 at the Angelina College's Shands Gym, will pit the best seniors in Angelina County against the best seniors in Nacogdoches County in a girls game at 6 p.m. and a boys game at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance at $4.
