LUFKIN, TX (KTRE)- Lufkin says goodbye to beloved community servant, Bobbie Whitehead.
She died on April 8, 2010 at the age of 77.
Loved ones say Whitehead was an avid volunteer. She was very much involved within the black community.
Whitehead knew how to connect with all people, in a special way.
She donated her time to several organizations, including the Top Ladies of Distinction and the Un-doing Racism Task Force, among others.
"She had a talent for completing a task and involving people. She had a great love for her church, for civic activities, and her involvement with educational activities was simply outstanding," said long time friend Dorothy Chimney.
Whitehead's memorial service is set for this Sunday at three p.m. at Long Chapel CME church in Lufkin.
